Fractal Explorer Landscape Tutorial

First order of business is to thank a member of the FEUsers mailing list who sent me a copy of the basic mandelbrot landscape spot file, just like the one on page 3 of this tutorial. I was having difficulty understanding how to use the landscape function, didn't understand it at all as a matter of fact. But when Byzantina sent me that spot file it all clicked and I understood. The light bulb came on you might say. From that point on I experimented with the function until I felt I understood it enough to make this tutorial.
Now, whenever I make a fractal I'm not just looking at it for it's beauty, I also look at it to see if it'll make a good landscape. I look at the dark colors which will be raised and the light colors which will be recessed and wonder if it'll be interesting enough for a landscape. Sometimes a fractal that isn't particularly interesting makes a wonderful landscape. So, all thanks for this tutorial goes to Byzantina who helped me see the light. :-)
